A basket brimming with Takashi Murakami's smiling flowers, the best-loved emblem of his Superflat world, appears here as a limited poster from his own studio, Kaikai Kiki. Issued in an edition of 300 and still new and unused, it carries the optimism of the flower motif into a collectible print.
The Piece
The poster arranges Murakami's iconic smiling flowers, perhaps the most recognizable motif of his practice, into a lively basket composition. It is a clear example of the Superflat aesthetic, which bridges Japanese pop culture, contemporary art and collectible print production, and was issued by the artist's own studio, Kaikai Kiki, in a limited edition of 300.
