From the LOEWE × Studio Ghibli capsule, this crossbody does not reference animation; it embodies it. Heen, the quiet, observant dog of Howl's Moving Castle, is rebuilt in segmented multi-panel leather, a sculptural, understated character piece that is unused and accompanied by its dust bag.
The Piece
Rather than relying on surface imagery, the design reconstructs Heen through segmented leather panels, each contributing to a cohesive three-dimensional composition. The face, rendered in layered tonal leather and assembled rather than printed, keeps the character's calm, almost indifferent gaze through careful shaping and proportion. The body extends in a cylindrical form that echoes his elongated silhouette, slightly awkward and slightly regal, while remaining a functional, wearable accessory.
The leather is supple yet structured, letting the form keep its clarity while remaining tactile. Each panel is cut, dyed and assembled with the discipline characteristic of the house and its heritage in Spanish craftsmanship, so that the playful subject never compromises technical refinement; the softness of the leather plays against the geometric segmentation, turning potential novelty into something architectural.
The LOEWE and Studio Ghibli collaboration marked a pivotal moment in which anime entered luxury fashion without dilution: LOEWE elevated the designs while keeping their narrative integrity. Within the capsule, Heen remains a more understated motif than Calcifer or Howl himself, and that subtlety makes the piece quietly desirable among collectors drawn to nuance. It speaks to luxury collectors, Ghibli devotees and fashion collectors seeking crossover artifacts, existing at once as wearable object and collectible sculpture.
