Juguete artístico de vinilo blando Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom) Silver × Silver a gran escala de SECRETBASE, fabricado en Japón, con caja

Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, enlarged by SECRETBASE and reduced to form, proportion and surface in a monochrome Silver × Silver colorway. Made in Japan in hand-finished soft vinyl under license from Tezuka Productions, this large-format figure is preserved unused with its original box and SECRETBASE sticker.

The Piece

Cast in large-format soft vinyl and rendered in a restrained silver-on-silver palette, this Big Scale Astro Boy by SECRETBASE reinterprets Osamu Tezuka's protagonist as a sculptural object of modern Japanese design rather than a character figure. Rather than contrast or decorative flourish, the Silver × Silver colorway relies on tonal subtlety, letting minute surface textures, sculpt transitions and the iconic silhouette carry the visual weight, so that the figure reads at once as pop icon, industrial artifact and cultural monument.

Produced in Japan using traditional soft vinyl techniques and finished by hand, the work sits between toy, sculpture and archival object, reflecting the evolution of Japanese character culture into the contemporary art field, where heritage characters are recontextualized for adult collectors. By enlarging scale and limiting color, SECRETBASE reframes Astro Boy as a design object for architectural space; soft vinyl preserves the lineage of Japanese toy-making while giving sculptural presence without the coldness of resin or metal, and the neutral palette lets the form converse with a modern interior rather than dominate it.

Created by Osamu Tezuka during Japan's reconstruction era, Tetsuwan Atom embodied optimism toward technology, moral responsibility and humanistic futurism, and over decades transcended manga and animation to become a national symbol of Japan's relationship with science, ethics and imagination, raising questions of empathy and coexistence between human and machine long before they entered mainstream discourse.

SECRETBASE operates at the intersection of street culture, contemporary art and licensed heritage characters. Its releases are intentionally limited and design-driven, and the studio is respected for restraint: where many amplify color and exaggeration, it often subtracts, letting material, scale and silhouette define the work. Among Tezuka interpretations, its Astro Boy releases stand among the most mature and spatially sophisticated.
