Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 3644/1 en oro blanco de 18K, cuerda manual Cal. 23-300PM, 33 mm, década de 1960

The Golden Ellipse distilled Patek Philippe's devotion to proportion into a single form drawn from the golden section. This early Ref. 3644/1, rendered entirely in 18K white gold and driven by the thin hand-wound Cal. 23-300PM, is an exceptionally preserved grade A example of restrained 1960s luxury.

The Piece

Introduced in 1968, the Golden Ellipse draws on the 'golden section', the mathematical ratio that has shaped art and architecture for centuries, and it remains one of Patek Philippe's most emblematic design families. The Ref. 3644/1 is a study in proportion and simplicity: crafted in 18K white gold and measuring a balanced 33 mm × 33 mm, it channels the geometric purity of the 1960s while remaining timeless on the wrist.

Its thin profile makes it an ideal dress reference today, and thanks to the lug geometry its presence on the wrist is closer to a contemporary 35–36 mm watch. Light and balanced, it suits all wrist sizes, and the full white-gold construction gives it modern versatility with unmistakable vintage charm.

Inside is the manually wound Caliber 23-300PM, a thin, hand-finished movement with polished anglage and Geneva-striped plates, admired for its slimness, reliability and refinement and found in many collectible Patek dress watches of the period.

The 3644/1 occupies a special place in the lineage: early, elegantly minimal and significantly rarer than later Ellipse models, with few surviving examples at this level of preservation. Collectors value its golden-ratio aesthetic, its ultra-thin movement architecture and its understated 1960s modernism, and the factory 18K mesh bracelet makes it a coherent, original-specification ensemble that is increasingly hard to find.
