Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Faded Padded Double-Breasted Coat, Washed Beige, Size 46

A padded double-breasted coat in rayon and cotton, garment-washed to a sun-bleached beige with darker seams, from Maison Mihara Yasuhiro’s autumn-winter range, in size 46.

The Piece

Mihara Yasuhiro’s clothing is built on the idea of the found object: garments that look as though they have already lived a life, been repaired, faded and patched before they reach you. Washing and over-dyeing are central to that language, and the outerwear is where the house applies it most generously.

This coat is cut long and roomy in a rayon and cotton twill, lightly padded with polyester and lined in cotton. It has been garment-washed so that the raised seams, collar edges and cuffs have kept a darker tone while the flat panels faded to a soft, uneven beige, much like vintage military canvas. Details include an oversized collar, a double-breasted button front backed by a zip, two large flap pockets, strapped cuffs and the house’s blue MMY tab at the placket.

Worn, it has the easy weight of a padded work coat and falls to around the knee, with generous room through the body for layering heavy knitwear beneath. It suits black wide trousers and boots especially well.
