Grace Coddington's cats tumble across a red Monogram on this Twist MM from the Catogram collaboration of Cruise 2019, finished with the signature twisting LV lock.
The Piece
For Cruise 2019 Nicolas Ghesquière invited Grace Coddington, the former creative director of American Vogue, to redraw the Monogram. She filled it with her own cats, Pumpkin and Blanket, sketched in her loose illustrator's line, and the Catogram capsule became one of the most affectionately collected Louis Vuitton collaborations of the decade.
The Twist MM, reference M44408, carries the print on its flap in red on a deep brown ground, the cats chasing bones among the flowers, with a large golden LV twist lock at the centre. The body is in smooth tan calfskin with a scalloped side profile, and the interior is lined in orange microfibre with Grace Coddington's signature.
It can be worn on the shoulder from the chain with its leather shoulder pad, or crossbody, and measures about 22.5 by 17 cm. The date code FL4118 places manufacture in France in late 2018.
Playful but impeccably made, it is the rare logo bag that makes people smile.
