The original Graffiti Keepall of 2001, when Marc Jacobs invited Stephen Sprouse to write across the Monogram.

The Piece

Sprouse’s hand-drawn lettering, spelling out the house name over the canvas, was the first time the Monogram had been defaced by design. The 2001 run sold out almost at once, and it is the first edition, rather than the later tributes, that collectors look for.

This green example has the original vachetta trim, name tag and handle holder, and the patina that only a quarter-century brings.

Condition

• Good condition, with rubbing, marks, some stains and loss of shape; the vachetta has tanned with creasing.
• Marks inside.
• Rubbing, scratches and some plating loss to the hardware.
• A light scent from use.
