Louis Vuitton Papillon BB M59860, bolso de dos formas Spring in the City Midnight Fuchsia Monogram Giant

From the Spring in the City capsule, the Papillon BB M59860 recasts Louis Vuitton's cylindrical Papillon in a Midnight Fuchsia gradient that carries Monogram Giant motifs from hot pink through violet into deep navy. This example is unused, its exterior graded S, and arrives with its matching round coin case, shoulder strap and original box.

The Piece

The Louis Vuitton Papillon BB M59860 transforms the Maison's classic cylindrical Papillon silhouette through a gradient palette of midnight, fuchsia, violet and pink, enlarged Monogram flowers and oversized LV initials. Rather than presenting Monogram as a uniform repeat, the design allows color itself to travel across the bag: intense fuchsia at one end dissolves through violet into deep midnight blue, while the enlarged motifs shift between pale pink, purple and saturated magenta.

The M59860 belongs to Spring in the City, a capsule distinguished by luminous seasonal gradients and dramatically reworked Monogram. It is associated with the Spring/Summer 2022 period and documented under the Midnight Fuchsia color name, and its unusually saturated palette separates it at once from traditional brown, reverse or neutral Monogram variations. Instead of warm leather tones, the composition follows an almost sunset-to-night progression, hot fuchsia to violet to purple to midnight navy, giving the compact Papillon a far more graphic and contemporary presence.

The Papillon is one of Louis Vuitton's most distinctive historical handbag forms, its cylindrical body recognizable even before the Monogram is considered. Here that architecture is reduced to BB proportions, producing a compact handbag with a playful, jewelry-like scale in which the intense color stays concentrated rather than overwhelming. Because the structure is distributed around a continuous curved body, canvas tension, zipper alignment, end-panel geometry and handle placement matter especially; on the M59860 that construction also becomes the foundation for the gradient.

Color is arguably the most important design element of this version, and the Monogram itself participates in the shift. Oversized LV initials and floral motifs appear in changing pink, lilac and purple tones, as though the pattern were moving through colored light. From one side the bag reads strongly fuchsia, from another it becomes dramatically darker, and from the center several hues coexist; as the surface curves away from the viewer, pink turns to purple and midnight, so the cylinder becomes more dimensional through color. With no large flat front panel, every view is curved and the progression travels naturally with the geometry. The Monogram Giant scale adds its own rhythm: individual initials and flowers occupy substantial areas, some wrapping around the curve and disappearing partially from view, giving the pattern a cropped, almost photographic quality, while a few strong graphic forms keep the richly colored surface from becoming busy.

The removable round coin case is an important part of the original design, mirroring the main bag through matching gradient coloration, Monogram Giant motifs, gold-tone zipper hardware and circular construction. Attached to the shoulder configuration it adds another visual layer and a more playful, almost modular character; used separately, it holds coins or very small personal items. Seasonal artwork, a matching accessory and an unusually saturated palette give the M59860 a strongly collection-specific identity rather than that of a permanent-line bag in a new color: less a conventional brown Monogram object than a compact burst of dusk-colored light.

Japonista grade S · Unworn or as new, complete with original packaging.

• Unused, with the exterior graded S and the interior graded NS (near new).
• Only very fine superficial marks to the metal hardware are noted; otherwise the bag is exceptionally clean.
• The photographs show strong gradient coloration, a clean cylindrical structure, crisp Monogram graphics, clean handles, bright hardware and a well-preserved matching coin case; unused presentation preserves the intended contrast between fuchsia, violet and midnight, which abrasion or transfer would otherwise interrupt.
• The original box is included but has noted damage; its condition should be considered separately from that of the bag.

Interior & Carrying

The cylindrical construction creates a deceptively useful central compartment that remains largely open, so small daily essentials can be arranged efficiently, while an interior open pocket separates flatter items. The form is nevertheless deliberately petite.

Carried by the top handles, the M59860 becomes a compact mini-handbag with the cylinder fully visible; with the shoulder strap attached it sits lower against the body, and the matching coin case can be integrated into the shoulder configuration for the complete Spring in the City appearance. The contrast between the dark shoulder strap, luminous body and circular pouch is one of the design's strongest combinations.

Styling & Display

Despite its vivid palette the bag is surprisingly easy to style, because it already contains its own complete color story: black tailoring, white or cream clothing, navy outerwear, charcoal knitwear, dark denim, minimal dresses and clean monochrome dressing all let the gradient provide the movement.

At rest, the Papillon BB is an unusually attractive display object. The cylindrical body gives a strong sculptural profile, the round coin case echoes that geometry on a smaller scale, and the pair forms a cohesive set. Rotating the bag changes its presentation: one side feels bright and playful, the opposite darker and more dramatic.

Authenticity & Care
