A 1927 marine bag reimagined in the LV² vocabulary of Virgil Abloh and NIGO. The Randonée Messenger M45968 recomposes the Monogram into vertical stripes over a tall, leather-ribbed bucket form, and this example is unused, ranked N inside and out.

The Piece

The Randonée Messenger comes from the LV² collaboration between Virgil Abloh, then Louis Vuitton Men's Artistic Director, and NIGO, founder of HUMAN MADE and one of the most influential figures in Japanese streetwear. Louis Vuitton's own archive identifies the model as an Abloh and NIGO creation and connects it explicitly to the Maison's Sac Marin of 1927. The second LV² collection was presented with Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2022 men's pre-collection, continuing a collaboration begun the year before and blending British tailoring, Japanese design culture, Americana workwear, streetwear and Louis Vuitton travel heritage.

Monogram Stripes Brown is the defining surface. Rather than one continuous repeat, the canvas is reconstructed into alternating tonal bands in which LV initials and Monogram flowers appear at different scales and orientations, overlapping as though sampled and recomposed. Louis Vuitton describes it as a deconstruction of classic Monogram elements; the pattern stays unmistakably Louis Vuitton while avoiding the look of a standard Monogram bag, with a precision of rhythm that feels distinctly Japanese.

The form is a tall cylindrical bucket, more structured than a conventional drawstring bag. Natural cowhide rises from a broad base toward the opening in vertical reinforcements that divide the canvas and give the bag a luggage-derived, almost trunk-like architecture. A dark brown shoulder cord, drawstring-style upper opening, exterior zip compartment, gold-tone hardware and a removable leather name tag complete it, and an LV MADE heart-shaped patch acts almost as a maker's seal, bringing NIGO's warmer, character-driven graphic sense into the disciplined structure.

Inside, the tall central compartment holds considerably more than its narrow footprint suggests, with an interior open pocket and an exterior zipped pocket for quick access. Its narrow width keeps it from feeling bulky on the body, while the long silhouette carries presence from front and side. Upright on a shelf it has a strong architectural profile, and it sits naturally beside other Monogram Stripes or LV MADE pieces.
