The Piece

From the Maison's LV² collaboration with NIGO, the M20463 joins Louis Vuitton trunk-making, Monogram canvas and striped, textile-inspired patterning with one of NIGO's most memorable graphic signatures: the stylized tiger. The LV² project built a hybrid language from classic Monogram, Damier-derived geometry, Japanese pop references, workwear influences, animal graphics and collector-object culture, and it embraced the idea of Louis Vuitton as a maker of collectible things.

The case is built like a small trunk rather than a pouch. Its rigid rectangular body is wrapped in brown Monogram and striped coated canvas, framed in warm leather, riveted along its edges and protected by metal corners, with a top handle, central lock and hinged lid. The broad, low proportions recall a miniature coffre or vanity trunk and give it strong tabletop presence.

The tiger dominates. Rendered frontally in vivid yellow, black and white with raised arms, it occupies almost the entire front panel, a direct and playful cartoon silhouette set over brown Monogram. The Monogram Stripe, or LV Squared, treatment breaks the canvas into contrasting vertical and horizontal sections so that the front, sides and top read as panels rather than a single wrap, keeping the tiger connected to the rest of the design.

Warm brown leather defines the lid edge, perimeter, panel transitions, handle and hardware anchoring, and deepens in tone over time against the coated canvas. Corner protectors, rivets, hinges and closure hardware give the object a seriousness that plays against the cartoon image. Inside, a dark fitted interior suits jewelry, watches, small leather goods, keys or small collectibles, and the included mini pouch adds a trunk-within-a-trunk layer. Closed, the tiger takes over; open, the fitted interior and nested pouch come into view.
