Louis Vuitton × Cindy Sherman Camera Messenger M40287, Celebrating Monogram, 2014

Cindy Sherman’s contribution to Celebrating Monogram, the 2014 project in which six artists and designers reimagined Louis Vuitton’s canvas.

The Piece

Sherman, who made her name photographing herself in invented roles, designed a messenger shaped like a camera bag and covered it in travel patches of her own making. It sat alongside pieces by Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Frank Gehry, Christian Louboutin and Marc Newson.

The flap closes by magnet, the strap converts it from top handle to shoulder, and the patches give every example the look of a well-travelled companion.

Condition

• Good condition, with marks and rubbing; the natural leather has tanned, with some stains.
• Some peeling at the corner edges.
• Marks, rubbing and a pen mark inside.

Authenticity & Care

Date code, Monogram alignment, heat stamp, stitching and hardware engraving are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch. Every piece carries the Japonista authenticity guarantee. Keep the vachetta dry and the patches away from abrasion.
