The original full-size Alma in Monogram canvas, made in France in 2001: a domed Art Deco silhouette on a rigid base, closed by a two-way zip.

The Piece

The shape began in the 1930s as a bag Gaston-Louis Vuitton made for Coco Chanel, and the house relaunched it under its own name in 1992, after the Pont de l’Alma in Paris. This first-generation reference, M51130, keeps the proportions that made it a classic.

The natural leather has warmed to a honey tone. The bag holds its shape well and takes a wallet, a phone and a small pouch with room to spare.
