Junya Watanabe MAN meets Canada Goose in a vivid expedition-red field parka, with the Arctic Program disc on the chest, four large cargo pockets and the long, pullover-style body of polar research clothing.
The Piece
Junya Watanabe MAN has worked with Canada Goose on several occasions, using the Toronto outerwear maker's expedition heritage as the basis for his own reconsidered field clothing. The red parka is the most recognisable Canada Goose image of all, worn by scientists and crews at polar research stations, and Watanabe keeps that colour at full intensity.
This parka is cut in a heavy polyester and cotton blend with a nylon lining, closer to a robust shell than a full down coat, which makes it a strong three-season piece. It has a hood with drawcords, a two-way zip under a snap placket, four flap cargo pockets with black pull tabs, a drawn waist and side zips at the hem. The Arctic Program disc sits on the left chest, the cuffs close with hook-and-loop tabs, and the neck carries the Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons MAN label above the Canada Goose disc.
The body is long and slightly A-line, falling to mid-thigh, with plenty of room for a fleece or knit beneath. The XS size suits a slim frame or anyone who prefers a closer fit.
Collaborative Canada Goose pieces from Junya Watanabe MAN are made in limited quantities and turn up rarely, especially in this strong colour.
