A collection piece from Junya Watanabe autumn-winter 2022: a biker jacket taken apart and rebuilt in high-shine polyurethane-coated polyester, with zips running down every seam.
The Piece
Autumn-winter 2022 found Junya Watanabe dismantling the motorcycle jacket and reassembling it as something closer to armour. Layers of glossy coated fabric are joined by exposed silver zips, so the jacket can be opened, split and reconfigured along its seams.
This piece keeps the lapels and snap studs of a classic biker at the top, but the body is cut into overlapping panels with zips along the front, sleeves and hem. A broad belt with a squared steel buckle wraps the waist, and the lower edge breaks into points and hanging straps. The coated finish gives a wet, lacquered look under light.
Product code JJ-J036, AD2022, made in Japan for the women’s line. The fit is cropped and roomy through the body, with long sleeves that can be zipped open.
One of the more radical outerwear pieces from a strong recent season.

- Minor scuffs in places on the coated surface, including a small mark near the front zip.
