A right-handed BERES IS-05 set from Honma’s Sakata works, 7 clubs with ARMRQ∞ 48 shafts in stiff-regular flex.
The Piece
BERES is the line Honma builds at the top of its range in Sakata, Yamagata, where the heads are forged and polished by hand and the ARMRQ carbon shafts are wound in the company’s own factory. The star grade on the shaft sets the tier: two stars for the standard ARMRQ shaft, three for a lighter, higher-grade shaft with more gold on the head, four and five for 24-karat gold plates and rings.
The IS-05 of 2016 brought a slimmer top line and a slot-sole face to the BERES line, built for distance with a high flight. This set runs 5 to 11, 7 clubs in all, right-handed, on ARMRQ∞ 48 shafts in stiff-regular flex.
