8 clubs of Japanese gold, right-handed: BERES IS-02, three-star grade on ARMRQ 6 shafts in regular flex.
The Piece
BERES is the line Honma builds at the top of its range in Sakata, Yamagata, where the heads are forged and polished by hand and the ARMRQ carbon shafts are wound in the company’s own factory. The star grade on the shaft sets the tier: two stars for the standard ARMRQ shaft, three for a lighter, higher-grade shaft with more gold on the head, four and five for 24-karat gold plates and rings.
The IS-02, released in 2012, refined the BERES cavity iron with a deeper slot behind the face and a wider sole, so the ball launches high with little effort. This set runs 6 to 11 plus AW and SW, 8 clubs in all, right-handed, on ARMRQ 6 shafts in regular flex.
