An apple cut from glossy Rouge Vif Tadelakt, its stalk a zipper pull in green chèvre: Hermès' Pochette Pomme, stamped X for 2016 and unused in its box.
The Piece
Hermès has a long tradition of whimsy in its petit h and seasonal leather goods, and fruit has been one of its favourite motifs. The Pochette Pomme turns a red apple into a functional pouch with the same saddle stitching and hardware as the house's classic pieces.
Tadelakt is a smooth, highly polished calfskin named after the Moroccan lime plaster it resembles, prized for its deep, glassy colour. Here it is in Rouge Vif, with a zip running around the top of the apple and a leaf-shaped pull in textured green chèvre goatskin. Inside, the lining is also in red leather, with two open slip pockets. A matching flat leather wrist strap lets it be carried as a wristlet or attached to a larger bag.
It measures about 17 by 16 cm, large enough for a phone, cards and keys. The X blind stamp dates it to 2016.
Unused and complete with its orange box and dust bag, it is an especially charming gift.
