Camisa japonesa Wagara de cuello cubano Heritage Stone, figura budista monocromática, arte de tinta con shishi y mono, talla M

Black ink silhouettes on pale cloth turn this Heritage Stone camp collar shirt into a wearable illustration: a haloed, Buddhist-inspired figure across the back, a monkey and a shishi guardian facing each other on the chest. It carries the atmosphere of temple painting, sumi-e and Japanese tattoo art into everyday dress.

The Piece

This Heritage Stone short-sleeve shirt transforms traditional Japanese imagery into minimalist monochrome artwork. Instead of bright color it relies on strong black silhouettes and fine line detail against pale fabric, a restrained palette that balances street fashion and Japanese cultural design and offers a distinctive alternative to more colorful Hawaiian and graphic shirts.

The back carries the centerpiece: a traditional Japanese feminine figure resembling a Buddhist-inspired deity or spiritual guardian, set before a large circular halo-like composition, with ornamental robe details and floral and decorative patterns rendered in strong black ink silhouette. The composition recalls Japanese Buddhist painting, ukiyo-e influenced illustration, sumi-e ink aesthetics and traditional tattoo art; such enlightened beings and guardians stand for wisdom, protection, inner balance and compassion.

The front presents a symmetrical animal motif, two black silhouettes across the chest among botanical details: a monkey (猿) on one side, associated in Japanese culture with cleverness, adaptability and the bond between people and nature and frequent in folklore and decorative arts, and a lion-like shishi (獅子) guardian on the other, emblem of strength, courage and protection from negative forces, familiar from temples and shrines throughout Japan.

A modern-era piece rather than an antique textile, the shirt reflects the reinterpretation of traditional motifs in contemporary Japanese-inspired fashion. Its relaxed silhouette works as a summer shirt or statement layer with black denim, selvedge jeans, sukajan or leather jackets.
