Few pre-war shapes are as mythic as the Teardrop coupé Figoni & Falaschi drew for Talbot Lago, an Art Deco dream of velocity conceived before wind tunnels became ordinary. CMC's 1/18 model M-145 renders it in light blue metallic; this beautifully kept example shows no conspicuous scratches or stains and comes without its paper box.
The Piece
This CMC 1/18 model interprets one of the most mythic shapes in pre-war European automotive design: the Talbot Lago T150 C-SS Teardrop with Figoni & Falaschi coachwork. In full scale the Teardrop is rolling sculpture, an aerodynamic fantasy shaped by intuition, aluminum skin and theatrical taste. Long fenders, a flowing dorsal line and a sealed, jewel-like cabin make it read instantly, even to collectors outside the automotive field.
Its silhouette compresses three ideas: the belief that luxury and engineering could be one, the era's obsession with streamlining across ocean liners, aircraft, radios and architecture, and the social myth of the grand tour. Figoni & Falaschi did not simply design a body; they authored a visual philosophy of smooth surfaces, exaggerated curves and a stance that turns mechanical mass into elegance. As a collectible it stands as a proxy for a vanished world of Paris salons, Riviera rallies and pre-war concours culture.
CMC's better releases are collected for finish fidelity, micro-hardware and realism beneath the skin, rewarding close inspection with crisp body lines, realistic glazing and a metal-like presence. Light blue metallic is a particularly flattering choice for a streamliner body, catching gradients and accentuating curvature.
Many pre-war coachbuilt cars were lost to wartime scrap drives, accidents or neglect, and the survivors became treasured by museums, concours and high-tier collectors as the last expression of bodywork as a bespoke art industry. The model brings that aura to a shelf, vitrine, office or studio, pairing naturally with Art Deco objects, pre-war aviation, streamlined industrial design and fine camera equipment.
