Neceser Chanel vintage CC A01998, piel de caviar negra, herrajes en tono dorado, circa 1994–1996

A 1990s Chanel vanity in black caviar leather, from the 3-series serial years of the mid-decade. The stitched CC, gold-tone zip and short top handle are all original, and the caviar grain has kept its definition through three decades.

The Piece

The vanity case is one of the few Chanel shapes that has barely changed since the 1990s, which is exactly why vintage examples are so sought after: the same proportions, but with the thicker gold plating and denser caviar of the earlier production.

This A01998 dates from around 1994 to 1996, judging by its 3-series serial. It opens fully along a wraparound zip and keeps an open pocket inside, sized for cosmetics, a phone or a small wallet.

Condition

• Very good vintage condition, with faint surface marks and light scratches.
• Some wear to the plating on the zip pull and light rubbing at the corners.
• Part of the lettering of the interior stamp has faded; it is shown in the photographs.

Serial number, interior stamp, quilting alignment, stitch rhythm, leather grain and CC hardware are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch.
