Byzantine in spirit: four midnight-blue cabochons on gilt discs arranged as a cross around the double C, from Chanel’s Autumn 1995 collection.

The Piece

Each arm of the cross is a round gilt disc holding a domed blue glass cabochon in a plain bezel; the four meet at a gold-tone CC. The back shows the textured gilt and the oval 95A season plaque, with a roll-over safety pin.

Measures 50 × 53 mm (2.0 × 2.1 in). Made in France; with the Chanel box.
