Chanel’s late-1990s Travel Line: a lightweight nylon boston printed with the quilting it does not have, lined in red and finished with silver studs.

The Piece

The black nylon body carries the Travel Line’s trompe-l’œil white quilt stitching, padded at the sides for structure, with two flat top handles in black and white webbing. A zip closes the top; outside are a zipped pocket and an open pocket, inside a zipped pocket and a snap pocket against the red lining. Silver-tone feet protect the base.

Measures 38 × 26 × 18 cm (15 × 10.2 × 7.1 in); handle drop about 44 cm. Serial 5583…, 5 series; made in France; with serial sticker.
