A CC hung like a pendant from two ribbed bars on short lengths of chain, in brushed gold tone. From Chanel’s Autumn 2003 collection, a brooch that moves a little as you do.

The Piece

The double-bar construction fastens with two pins, so the piece sits flat and secure on a lapel while the CC swings freely below. It is the kind of engineering Chanel’s jewellery studio enjoyed in the early 2000s, when the bijoux grew more playful and more three-dimensional.

The brushed finish is softer than the mirror gilt of the 1990s and sits beautifully on tweed, wool or denim.
