Chanel Camellia Corsage Brooch, Black and White Tweed, Boxed

A flat, firm camellia in black-and-white tweed, 11 cm across, with the Chanel plate on the pin. Kept in its box and never worn.

The Piece

The tweed is the one the house uses for its suits, so the flower can be pinned to a jacket of the same weave or lifted against a plain black coat. Unlike the softer, domed corsages of later seasons, this one is stiff and flat, with layered petals pressed into a disc.

A small CC is stitched at the centre, and the gilt plate and pin sit on the back.
