Tall black leather boots from Blackmeans, the Tokyo hardcore leather workshop, closed by six buckled straps over a back zip and set on a Vibram lug sole, unworn and tried on only.
The Piece
Blackmeans emerged from Tokyo's hardcore and punk scene, and its leather is made in small numbers by its own craft team with an emphasis on heavy, honest materials. Its boots are made in even smaller quantities than the jackets.
This pair stands about 39 cm tall, with six buckled straps climbing the outside of the shaft and two straps across the instep, all over a full-length rear zip for easy entry. The leather is smooth and thick, the toe softly rounded, and the boots sit on a stacked heel and a Vibram rubber lug sole. The blue Blackmeans woven label sits inside the shaft.
Size 27.5 cm, a men's US 9.5 to 10; outsole length about 32 cm, width about 11 cm, heel about 3.5 cm.
They have the weight and presence of a motorcycle boot and the drama of a stage boot, and they will mould to the wearer over time.
