Chaqueta de vuelo de cuero estilo A-2 de AVIREX, pintura trasera del American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers, marrón, talla 40

AVIREX's A-2 interpretation in brown leather, carried by a large American Volunteer Group back painting that draws on the Flying Tigers legend. Less artifact than echo, it delivers the A-2's muscular silhouette and the graphic charge of a painted jacket in a highly wearable form.

The Piece

This AVIREX jacket is a contemporary interpretation of the classic A-2, drawing on the visual mythology of the American Volunteer Group, the Flying Tigers of the China theater. Rather than pursuing strict historical reproduction, it works within AVIREX's long-established language of military-inspired Americana, where aviation heritage is rendered through fashion; it is not asking to be mistaken for a 1940s survivor.

The large back composition reads AMERICAN VOLUNTEER GROUP, with an aircraft motif and AVIREX branding. Stacked typography, an aggressive vertical arrangement, a brash Americana palette and theatrical scale transform the back into a narrative surface, doing what painted jackets once did: making the wearer visible from behind as part of a story. The Flying Tigers image remains powerful because it compresses volunteerism, courage and propeller-era heroics into a single idea.

The jacket is cut in brown leather in a traditional short-waisted A-2 silhouette: short body, ribbed hem, pointed collar and a strong shoulder and chest. Brown keeps it close to aviation memory and preserves the tonal relationship between leather and painted graphics. Pieces of this kind, from late 20th-century to contemporary flight-jacket culture, hold a following among collectors who came to flight jackets through Japanese and American streetwear, motorcycle scenes and postwar Americana revival.
