Authentic U.S. Army Air Forces A-2 Flight Jacket from World War II. Fully original.

Used by the 15th Army Air Force, which was active in the European Theater. This is the famous “1756” type A-2 jacket, known for having an unknown manufacturer.

On the back, there is a beautiful full painting featuring the names of countries the wearer likely flew missions over with his beloved aircraft.

On the right chest, 50 mission bombs are proudly painted, indicating 50 sorties.

On the left shoulder, there is the 15th AAF insignia, and on the right shoulder, a U.S. flag is painted. All artwork remains very vivid and intact.

I purchased this piece around 2010 from a well-known U.S. collector. It is truly a museum-grade item.

The leather appears to be seal brown steerhide, but it could also be horsehide. It is very thick, and although there are some small scratches, it is still supple and well-preserved for its age.

The zipper is a CONMAR, and it works smoothly.

The lining has a small tear above the tag (see photo 2), but there is no significant damage, and overall it is in good condition. The knit parts have minor damage, but are also in good shape.

You rarely come across a real A-2 in this kind of condition. And the back painting is one-of-a-kind, making it rare and valuable.

While it’s still wearable, I would be pleased if someone cherished it as a collector’s item and passed it down to future generations.

Size is US 38, roughly equivalent to a Japanese M size.

• Shoulder width: 44 cm
• Chest width (pit to pit): approx. 48 cm
• Sleeve length: approx. 64 cm from shoulder, 50 cm from underarm
• Length (from bottom of collar to knit waistband): approx. 60 cm
