After his death in 2002 the Miyake studio returned to his archive, translating his posters into pleated clothing under the IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE label. The Sharaku image comes from Tanaka's poster celebrating two hundred years of the ukiyo-e master Toshusai Sharaku, reducing a kabuki actor's face to flat geometric planes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn these trousers the face spans the front of one leg, with the actor's dark topknot and sky-blue forehead at the hip and a moss-green collar at the knee.
