The patchwork Levi's from that season are now regarded as some of the finest of the whole collaboration, and this all-indigo version, with no outside colours or prints, is the one collectors name first.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe base is a Levi's 503 with its leather two-horse patch (W30 L33) still at the back waistband. Almost every centimetre of it has been overlaid with hand-cut panels: sashiko-dotted indigo, ikat-like kasuri squares, hickory and pinstripe denim, faded chambray and a few narrow brown-and-black stripes. The panels are attached with raw, fraying edges and bold zigzag and cross-stitch darning in black thread, the vocabulary of Japanese boro mending.
