Messiah: Neo-Japanesque Wa X Rock (和Xロック)Band

Submitted by on July 9, 2010 – 3:07 amNo Comment

These past years, the face of the world of J-Rock has been slowly changing and pointing towards its Wa roots and we are currently experiencing a rediscovery of the traditional Japanese music in collaboration with contemporary rock anthems. To this respect, one of the promising hot bands/artists we have encountered is this group called Messiah.

One might wonder whether this is a christian Japanese rock band but believe me, it has nothing to do with any deep religious thing or so but just carries the image of being a “Messiah” of neo-Japanese music that their genre falls into.

The group is formed with Emi as the lyricist and vocals while the sounds, riffs, guitars are done by Kaoru. The bands was signed up by Tricraft in 2009 and is currently active in local scenes and cultural events. Last May, the first album entitled “つれづれうた” or “Tsurezure-uta” was officially released.

This unit is usually found and active playing in Kyoto and Kansai, mainly doing live performances in famous and popular historical temples all over the region, providing a rather new spiritual and musical dimension to their artistic performance on stage oozed with visuals and other sixth- sense-tingling flava.

The band released the first album last May and an excerpt of their music can be viewed below:

Check them out to find more about real and lively Japanesque music that is sure to make you like Japanese cool-ture all the more. As these guys are set to go mainstream, their appeal is also on the way capturing all fans of Japanese culture and music.
