Japonista Street Fashion, Here We Go!

Starting with our very first model/collaborator Juri and our very own ninja Naritomo, we adventured the streets and alleys of Shibuya and Harajuku come this new year 2010 on January 1st. We thought that the place would be free of people but we were proved wrong when we saw that many New Year Revelers were still roaming the streets the morning we arrived in Shibuya that time.
We took the liberal chance to shoot while crossing the Scramble Crossing (渋谷スクランブル交差点 ) and it turned to be real fun when people started noticing what we were doing and commenting how cute the shoes were! Some foreigners and tourists even had the courage to ask about the name of the shoes and where to get them. That gave us a boost as we encircled the back alleys of Shibuya before proceeding to Harajuku in the late afternoon.
From there we took some pictures along the Takeshita Dori or Street and got swarmed by curious on-lookers and other tourists as well. Juri was enjoying the stroll when we were stopped by a guy from South Africa who wore Jika Tabi as well. The team had exchanged some conversations with him and even agreed that indeed it is very comfortable for walking around and strolling the metropolis. He then went to Meiji Jingu Shrine to pay the new year’s homage.
After the hard day’s work, we treated ourselves with an okonomiyaki dinner at the design festa gallery resto-bar and thought that this is going to be the start of an exciting journey in propagating the good things about wearing a jika tabi in pop x traditional way and spreading the coolness with it among people who like and are fond of the Japanese cool-ture.
Please watch us out for more fun shoots around the interesting places and spots in the bustling city of Tokyo from now on. We hope to share a piece of the fun and excitement we have in this movement we are all part of.
Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the thrill and ride!
