First and foremost, please check if EMS JAPAN can ship to your location / country because it is limited in some minor areas/countries/territories.
By default, we will only ship via EMS or EXPRESS MAIL SERVICE (4-7 days from date of shipment with online tracking). It is the fastest, safest and even CHEAPEST (all things considered, to be explained why below) SHIPPING METHOD from Japan.
Why is EMS the most recommended option and how come it is the CHEAPEST METHOD in effect?
EMS (Express Mail Service) is the fastest shipping method available through the post office. Delivery takes only 3-4 days from Japan to most major countries. It is rather quite an expensive method if you do not consider all other factors and things such as safetiness, peace of mind, presence of online tracking information which enables us to declare packages at really low value to help customers residing in other countries aside from the USA to avoid any customs duties or taxes when receiving the products, thus being the cheapest method in effect. You can track the package and can be almost 100% assured of its safety. (Your tracking number will be sent to you via Paypal and email when we register it there after we ship your order/s.).

SAL (Surface Air Lift). SAL packages are loaded on the airplane only if there's room after all the priority air mail parcels are loaded. Therefore, it is slower and cheaper than priority air mail, but faster than surface (boat) mail. Delivery takes about 2-3 weeks from Japan to most countries. If your country does not accept SAL packages, then we ship by surface mail. Countries like South Korea, Taiwan, and most Central American and African countries do not accept SAL. NO TRACKING information available. Literally, a risky way of shipping specially to countries with not trusthworthy customs officials and departments where most packages disappear in the facilities.
SEA (Surface via SHIP. While delivery takes 1 to 3 months, the rates are reasonable. It takes about 1-2 months to get North America regularly. The weight limit is 20-30 kgs depending on countries but the size limit is very tight. Quite risky due to long transit time and packages which are fragile are subject to internal damages sometimes due to vibration. If used for non-fragile items, it is very cost effective if you are not in hurry and willing to take a risk. Although subject to untraceable loss due to unavaibility of tracking information once the package is out of Japan. Same risks as SAL.
Compared to EMS, SAL along with SEA uses a different weighing scale pricing method, which means there is no big difference between EMS vs SAL or SEA for shipments under 5 kilos. Here, it is worthy to add just a penny or two to upgrade to EMS for safety and reliability reasons presented above.
By default we are using EMS, however if you insist on using the other methods presented above, we can ship on the following conditions:
* Buyer will send us a fax or scanned copy of a signed waiver that the Japonista Sole.com and its company will not be held responsible for loss packages arising from such shipping options. Risks shall be the 100% responsbility of the buyer.

EMS is the fastest and most reasonable shipping, has built-in insurance up to 20,000 yen (additional insurance can be purchased at $0.5 per additional 20,000 yen coverage) and can be tracked online. Please keep in mind that we are not responsible for lost items if you choose the shipping method other than EMS. Please carefully think about it and assume risks accordingly.

We can declare items as a gift and low values if you request us directly (add as a message or note to seller when you pay via paypal). However we will not be responsible for the total amount paid, if it is lost or damage somehow along the way. Amount declared is the maximum compensation value under any circumstance if insurance compensation shall be determined.We advise buyers to please think about it carefully before requesting us to write a lower value declaration. If you do not want to take risks and want full-coverage in case of accidents or missing items, we strongly advice full value declaration shipped via EMS (you face the responsibility of paying higher custom duties depending on your country's tariffs and laws).

INSURANCE POLICY:
All shipments will be insured to full transaction value which means to the full amount that you paid, unless, the buyer intentionally informs us to declare at a lower value. In this case, the maximum insurance that can be convered is the amount or value declared for the shipment.
